About

Julie Fedolak knew that she would become an artist at just five years old. At eleven, she continued, discovered and set her sights on the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Fedolak’s dreams were achieved when she graduated from CCS in 2006 with a dual major B.F.A in Crafts-Fibers and K-12 Visual Arts. She began teaching right away and continues to spend her days in the chaos of middle school. Demonstrating her commitment to continued education, she commuted from Detroit to Grand Rapids in order to attend Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris University. She finished her master’s degree in Visual Arts Education with a thesis focused on Shibori in 2010. It is important to Fedolak to be an artist who teaches; she continues to learn and grow as an artist, now incorporating metals into her work. Her work includes enameling, etching, forging, fibers, creating wearable and sculptural pieces. Her current work can be seen at the Detroit Artist Market in Detroit, MI and Poesy in Royal Oak, MI.
